Just a word about who and where we are

Just a word about who!

The Merely Players is a non-profit organization operating in the public’s interest as an arts provider. We operate as a tax deductible (501c3) entity, contributions to which are deductible by businesses and individuals able to use this at tax time.

Our mission is as a community service, but in order to fulfill our mission we are in need of a bit of help from people like you. If you cannot offer financial assistance, but can offer some of your time and skill, we have need of it.  Please take some time to explore our site to see where you might be able and willing to be involved. We need all skills and interests.

The Lincoln Community Center has been the home of The Merely Players Community Theatre since  1981 and continues to help us grow. We are in a permanent state of growth that would not be possible in a lesser relationship, They help us keep the promises we make to the Community.

We began to be a theatre in 1981 under the auspices of Community Services, then managed by Mark Sivanich, to provide additional entertainment for Bend of the River Days. It was to be a one time effort but,  this one time effort has lasted twenty eight years and counting.

The Merely Players was a Community Services program fully supported by them through 1991 when we became independent.  501c3.

We are managed by a working Board of Directors and a Theatre Manager. The Theater Manager operates all aspects of our  organization not specifically performed by the Board of Directors or its staff. The staff consists of the Artistic Director, Technical Advisor and Costume Rental manager.

Over the past several years we've learned...
